March 16 (THEWILL) — Singer, songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur, Innocent Idibia, otherwise known as 2Baba, has commissioned a music studio he built for Obafemi University’s music department Awolowo, Ile-Ife.
He announced that Benue University is the next stop for a music studio.
The state-of-the-art recording studio was well received by the university’s board and students, who happily sang their school anthem with it in their midst.
With this development, the university can be said to have the best recording studio in Nigeria, according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ogunbodede.
“Regarding the Nigerian university system. We can therefore proudly say that today we have the best recording studio in the country among all the universities. And it is thanks to your magnanimity and your philanthropic gesture,” he said.
This feat comes three years after the same school conferred on him, the award of a Fellow of the School of Music by the university’s Department of Music,
The 46-year-old thus became the first Nigerian musician to receive such an honor
Father of seven children, 2Baba is the recipient of several distinctions including five Headies, four Channel O Music Awards, BET Award, MOBO, Kora, MTV Europe Music Award, World Music Award.
