EMPIRE Acquires Dirtybird Label – EDM.com

Famous label and distributor EMPIRE has acquired the imprint of underground house music dirty bird.

The announcement of the acquisition was made this year Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). The deal would mark the first foray into the electronic music scene for EMPIRE, which primarily works with artists from the hip-hop and R&B world, such as Grammy-winning artists Kendrick Lamar and Anderson .Paak.

The acquisition of EMPIRE effectively connects two musical powerhouses in the Bay Area.

“Growing up in San Francisco and the Bay Area in general, dance music has always been an important part of our music scene,” EMPIRE CEO and Founder Ghazi said in a statement. “EMPIRE is above all a company that is for culture. Dirtybird embodies the indie ethos and understands the cultural nuance of all things San Francisco and dance music.

EMPIRE is now the sole owner of the Dirtybird brand with the exception of its live events, as the fan favorite Campsite Dirtybird. Under the terms of the agreement, EMPIRE will oversee the administration of the entire Dirtybird back catalog and future releases. Dirtybird co-founder Claude VonStroke will continue to lead the creative vision for the brand’s events and apparel, according to The music industry around the world.
