Indian label Venus Music, bought by Believe in 2019, renames itself Ishtar

As reported by MBW in June, Indian record label Venus Music was acquired by Paris-based distribution and service company Believe in 2019.

Now, as part of this 100% acquisition, Venus Music has renamed itself Ishtar.

The 2019 acquisition covered all musical rights to Venus Music.

The company’s catalog includes non-cinematic music as well as Bollywood film music in subgenres such as regional, pop, classical, ghazals, qawwalis, devotional and instrumental.

The first project under the newly formed moniker is that of Indian singer Mamta Sharma, best known for her tracks. Munni Badnaam Hui and Fevicol se in the movie Dabangg.

Title Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai, the new track was released on Ishtar’s YouTube channel and digital platforms on August 5, 2021.

Believe officially went public on June 10, debuting on the Paris Euronext this morning.

The company introduced 14.35% of its capital via its IPO, thus raising 300 million euros.
