In downtown Youngstown, there was a ribbon cutting for a new business.

And that’s music to some artists’ ears.

From humble beginnings in a garden shed to an 8th floor ribbon cutting at 11 West Federal Street in downtown Youngstown.

Three graduates from YSU and one from TCTC opened a professional recording studio called Level 8.

“I make beats, I record all the vocals, I can record instruments, follow them and compose them to sound as good as possible,” said LV8 executive music producer Logan Neff.

“I started as a producer when I was in high school, I had a studio in my parents’ basement, so a lot of knowledge around the scene here and the music industry,” said added Charles Colvin, Marketing Director of LV8.

When they opened the doors, business was slow but picked up almost overnight with some local music artists and some music artists traveling from other states to LV8.

“In the first two weeks, I was blown away. Every day another person calls, another person tries to book,” said Marco Mediati, COO of LV8.

The co-owners have invested over $50,000 and are using their talents to showcase musicians of all genres.

“In addition to audio, we also offer services ranging from music videos to commercial videos, professional photography, portraits, etc. We do landscapes and images for reality companies,” said Lucas Garland , creative director of LV8.
