NYMT’s Original PRODIGY Record Set to Release This Month

Auburn Jam Records and National Youth Music Theater are delighted to release the original recording of PRODIGY, the new musical from Jake brunger and Pippa Claire, commissioned and developed by NYMT for its first production at the St James Theater in August 2015.

The recording will be released on Monday, July 25, with CDs available for pre-order now on, and digital copies available for download through all major online retailers from the date of release.

The story follows the behind-the-scenes drama of teenage hormones and parental pressure, when five finalists come together to compete to be Britain’s best new classical music star. With a live televised finale looming, emotions run high and we see everything from bitter vendettas to unexpected romance, as to which of the contestants will rise to the top and be crowned the winner.

Jake brunger and Pippa Claire, the writing team behind Leicester Curve’s acclaimed production of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, has been hailed by The Stage as “one of musical theater’s most dynamic writing partnerships”. They are particularly excited to release their first original recording with PRODIGY, which was written and developed in close collaboration with the cast of 27 young people aged 11-23, from across the UK, with more than half of the cast in actor. musician roles:

The original production at the St James Theater reunited under the direction of Kate golledge, with musical direction by Candida Caldicot and choreography by Darragh O’Leary.

The team is delighted to have partnered with the music producer Joe davison to Auburn Jam Music, associate producer Richard jones and independent label Auburn Jam Records to bring the show to life for this original recording from the cast.

Jake brunger (book and lyrics) and Pippa Claire (music and lyrics) is a London based musical Theater Partnership. They met at the University of Bristol, where they were studying theater and music respectively. Their musicals include: Jet Set Go! (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Theater 503 and Jermyn Street Theater, licensed to Josef Weinberger Ltd), The Great British Soap Opera (Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Jermyn Street Theater), Red Riding Hood (Singapore Repertory Theater, licensed by Rodgers and Hammerstein Theaters) , the scenic musical adaptation of Sue TownsendThe Secret Diary of 13-year-old Adrian Mole (Leicester Curve, nominated for the UK Theater Award 2015 for Best Show for Children and Young People), PRODIGY (National Youth Music Theater / St James Theater) and Treasure Island (Singapore Repertory Theater, nominated for Best Youth Production at the Singapore Life Theater Awards 2016). The UK premiere of Red Riding Hood was held at the Pleasance Theater for the Christmas season 2015/16, produced by Paul taylor Mills, toured the Middle East in Spring 2016 and will debut at Pleasance Courtyard for Edinburgh Fringe 2016. It was also produced in Mexico City for its Spanish-language debut and will premiere in South Korea at the fall 2016, with plans for a Chinese translation in Singapore in 2017. Their additional credits include music and lyrics for The Snow Gorilla (Rose Theater, Kingston), a song for the musical review A Song Cycle for Soho (Soho Theater) and the 2014 opening issue of West End Bares (Café de Paris). Their work is regularly performed in cabarets and concerts in and around London and the West End. They were chosen for the 2013 Johnny mercer Foundation Songwriters Project in Chicago and Pippa won the 2013 Arts Foundation Fellowship for Musical Theater Composition.

Auburn Jam Music is a production and recording studio based in South West London. For independent projects, they provide a full album production service, working with clients from the planning stages, through arrangement, MDing, recording, mixing and mastering, right up to CD design and printing, web design and video production – all done in-house by husband and wife team Joe & Nikki Davison, both multi-instrumentalists who also have a roster of talented session musicians at your fingertips to bring their arrangements to life.
