Founded in 2004, Monday Records is an independent label based in Sydney’s Inner West. Working closely with local artists, Monday Records has helped musicians record and release new works, release and sync their copyrighted material, as well as manage and navigate their careers. . In 2015, Monday Records launched a series of events called Happy, which would later become Happy Media, now recognized as Australia’s largest truly independent youth culture publication.

We are currently looking for an experienced full time Label Manager Assistant to join the team. In close collaboration with our director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks of a record company and a management company. From delivering and tracking digital releases, to preparing and distributing press releases, social media management, pitch syncs and A&R services. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.

By joining Monday Records, you will have the chance to extend your already existing skills in a very practical role. Working in collaboration with the Happy Media team will also be an integral part of the role, as well as liaising with the artists and their direction in order to develop innovative content.

Job description:

  • Have regular conversations with artists and their management about recorded content opportunities.
  • Defend the Monday Records catalog and generate ideas to maximize the reach of its catalog.
  • Communicate with a range of media industries to obtain placement of Monday Records material (eg, sync).
  • Be responsible for managing new albums and singles releases on a weekly basis for digital release.
  • Prepare and distribute press releases for the aforementioned releases and confidently ensure local and international media coverage.
  • Serving local, national and international radio stations.
  • Regularly update the Monday Records website and social media platforms to reflect current and upcoming releases.
  • Develop and maintain healthy working relationships with key industry partners such as DSPs, sync agencies, management companies, etc.

Minimum requirements:

  • A true passion for Australian music across a wide range of styles and genres
  • At least 2 years of experience as a publicist or label assistant in Australia
  • An understanding of the mechanisms behind publishing and synchronization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with digital music platforms such as Spotify, Apple, YouTube, etc.
  • Results driven with a history of meeting deadlines and resolving issues
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • A willingness to travel and meet potential partners nationally and internationally
  • Excellent computer skills including Google Workplace, Photoshop and WordPress
  • Any additional relevant experience will be considered a bonus
