“Sparkle” soundtrack featuring Whitney Houston’s latest recording for July release (audio) – The Hollywood Reporter

Motown-era fans won’t have to wait for the August 17 release of Twinkled to hear the music. The film’s soundtrack will be released on July 31 via RCA records.

The film stars the ending Whitney houston as the mother of three daughters in a group of singers, including Sparkle, the main character (Jordin sparks). Twinkled, which finished filming in November 2011, was set to mark a career resurgence for Houston, who was found dead almost three months later on February 11. The late singer had accidentally drowned in her bathtub; cocaine and heart disease have been reported as contributing factors.

Executive producer, Howard Rosenman, says of the iconic singer, “It would’ve been a big, big comeback, she’s so brilliant in it.”

The remake of the 1976 film of the same name is also playing. Mike Epps, Omari hardwick, and Cee Lo Green.

The film’s 13-track soundtrack includes the latest performances recorded in Houston. The album will also feature songs from the original film, including “I’m a Man”, “Hooked on Your Love”, “Look Into Your Heart”, among others.

Two singles will be released from the album: the playful “Celebrate”, produced by R. Kelly, and the Houston gospel number, “His eye is on the sparrow.” “
