CLEAR WATER (WQOW) – Eau Claire folk-grass group Them Coulee Boys have released their fourth album, titled “Namesake”. But the album is not the only novelty. They also created their own independent label, called Some Fun Records.
Group guitarist and singer Soren Staff said he started working on Namesake after canceling all of their shows last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After writing a series of unreleased songs, they launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to record the album. But staff said that by asking for $ 36,000, he received more than $ 80,000 from friends, family and fans. With the money, he said they were able to create their own label for the album.
According to Staff, the independent label gave them full creative control over the record.
âI think the most important thing about Some Fun Records is just a little band story,â he said. âWe started in a little summer camp as counselors. We played in a basement and we never really thought we would be able to make a career out of it. It was a dream, and it has become a career for us. “
Namesake is now available in local record stores as well as on streaming platforms.
