How do you measure? Measuring an election?
In tantrums? In the fake news? In tears? In threats and storms of tweets? No. Everyone knows that you measure an election by counting votes, but unfortunately for President Donald Trump, the votes that were cast in the 2020 presidential election did not fall in his favor.
Joe Biden received millions more votes that Trump in the November election, and the former vice president also won six key states including Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Georgia. As a result, Trump tried every trick in the book to change the election result, and he even stooped so low that he pressured Georgian Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in a questionable phone call to ‘one o’clock.
Sunday, Washington post a leaked recording of the call between Trump and Raffensperger. Upon review, a number of landmark quotes can be heard coming out of Trump’s mouth. But a particularly memorable sentence is when he says, “All I want to do is this: I just want to find 11,780 votes.”
The line stood out clearly The Gregory brothers – a comic musical quartet specializing in song parodies and conducting the Schmoyoho YouTube channel – who put their own creative twist on Trump’s words. They put together selected audio clips of Trump’s recording to the tune of “Seasons of Love” from the popular 1996 musical, To rent, and created quite a jam.
It’s nice. It’s inspiring. It’s a song that will surely go down in American history.
Maybe once Trump leaves the White House he can take on a whole electoral theme To rent parody on the road.
