Wolves team up with Warner Music’s ADA for new label

  • West Midlands team become first UK football club to launch label
  • Wolves Records to nurture local artists before expanding internationally
  • Label signatures to access ADA’s global distribution network and Wolves channels

Premier League team Wolverhampton Wanderers became the first British football club to launch a label.

The West Midlands party has partnered with the music distribution company Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA), which is owned by Warner Music, for this initiative.

The label, which will be called Wolves Records, will initially focus on developing local artists in the Midlands, before expanding into international territories.

Wolves added that artists signed to the label will benefit from ADA’s global distribution network, digital marketing, product management and radio promotion. Musicians will also be supported through the club’s various media and social networks, including broadcast at the Molineux Stadium and through Wolves digital productions.

To help the label in its search for a first signing, Wolves Records has teamed up with singer, songwriter and producer Sam Gumbley, known professionally as SX. Peter Rudge, another Wolves fan and musical director, who has worked with the Rolling Stones and The Who, also joined Wolves Records as a strategic consultant.

The label is currently inviting emerging artists, groups and producers to send in music for their consideration.

For Wolves, entering music is the club’s latest effort to grow their brand outside of football. This includes notable developments in esports and fashion, like a partnership with U.S. competitive gaming giant Evil Geniuses and a high-end fashion line launched during a parade atop a Shanghai skyscraper.

“As many of our supporters know, one of our goals at Wolves is to grow the club in innovative and entrepreneurial ways, developing new business ideas that will ultimately complement and help support the continued success of the football club.” said Russell Jones. , Managing Director of Marketing and Business Growth for Wolves.

“Of course, this is just the start of the journey for Wolves Records, and the hard work is now intensifying as we begin the search for our first acts to sign at Wolves Records; I have no doubts that we have a great team. in place to make the label a huge success. ”
